It was 1966, and our daughter Christine had just come home from the hospital a few weeks earlier. She was a premie baby and weighed only 5 1/2 pounds when she was allowed to come home, at two months of age.

She was so tiny that the only clothes we had for her were fannel nightgowns, the type that are opened at the back and tie at the neck. Even those was much too big for her.

On one of our  regular visits to Bev and Colin's place, we were next door neighbors, Wendy asked if she could take Christine in the bedroom where all the children were. Karen was just a newborn baby at that time and was in her crib.

Wendy emerged a few minutes later, followed by Sandy, Terry, Ricky and Marie-France. She was carrying this little 5 pound bundle dressed in the cutest red and white dress. Wendy had taken her own doll's dress and put it on baby Christine. This brought many laughs to all who where gathered around to see this. The thought of this act of kindness still brings a tear to my heart.

We still have this precious little red and white dress. It reminds me of the generosity of a sweet young girl who was willing to share.
